Week 17 – Imagination

This week my virtue in the Franklin Make Over is Imagination. At first, I thought this would be easy, I have a 4-year-old daughter with a vivid imagination, she plays games, she has an imaginary pet dog, cat, and every other animal

possible. I have seen so much imagination in her just while she is playing that I have lost count.

It has taken me until today to think about how I can see imagination in Adults. As children we have vivid imaginations, we play, we have imaginary pets & friends and we use it constantly, but as we grow our imagination is put to the side, we do not use it as much or if we do, we keep it to ourselves.

Which then got me thinking how do we as adults use or see imagination? And while I was driving home it hit me. We daydream, our daydreams are our imagination at play. So now that I was aware of this, I can count the times I find myself daydreaming as imagination.

And then when I sat down to write this blog, I did a quick google search to find the Dictionary meaning of imagination. Hold on to your hats people this is where it gets interesting. For the last 17 weeks we have been told by Mark and the MKE team to look up the words we are reading in the dictionary to find out their true meaning. And for the first time in 17 weeks, I did that, and my mind is BLOWN!!!!

Imagination – ‘the faculty or action of forming new ideas, or images or concepts of external objects not present to the senses.’

Pic from Google Images

And now my mind is completely BLOWN!!!! And it all makes sense! I was questioning why the MKE team would want us to focus on Imagination for an entire week, but I am one to trust the process and that is exactly what I was doing UNTIL I read the above meaning for Imagination and I went ‘Holy crap that is exactly what this course is about’ I could not have written a better description of the MKE course if I tried.

The MKE is all about forming new ideas, images, or concepts of external objects not present. Our DMP is literally that! Forming images of external objects not yet present, that is imagining our future as if it is happening right now! When we are writing our DMP we are to write it in the present tense because our subby knows no different, so if we are reading it in the present tense it is as if we are living it now. We are reading it and using our imagination!

I told you it was Mind Blowing!!!

Week 16 – Kindness

Last week we began the Franklin Makeover, which for 13 weeks we will be focusing on one virtue a week and scoring how many times we act it out, or see it being done around us.

Week 2 for everyone is ‘Kindness,’ Kindness is described as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. A simple act of kindness can go a LONG way to changing someone’s day, week, year, or life. You just never know what people are going through in their personal life and sometimes a small act of kindness can mean the world.

As a group the entire MKE community is aiming to complete over 8,000 random acts of kindness this week. Which is absolutely amazing because we are to do nice things without getting caught. These random acts of kindness can be as small as holding the door open for a stranger to paying for someone’s coffee and everything and anything in between.

Something that I have so far observed is that people show kindness to their loved ones in so many ways. My sister ordered a milkshake for my daughter, Miss 4 on Monday so she would not have to wait for it once we arrived. That small act of kindness does not seem like a lot but to a 4-year-old it was the best thing ever because she did not have to wait for her milkshake when she got to the coffee shop and for my sister it filled her ‘cup’ by showing love to her niece.

It is most definitely the small things that mean the most to our loved ones, yesterday my husband put our bins out without having to be asked or reminded. This most definitely does not sound like a big deal but to me it was AMAZING! Why? Because I felt loved, I did not have to put the bins out and I did not have to ask for them to be done. It was not just a small act of kindness, but it was an act of love.

The most memorable random act of kindness I have witnessed so far this week, again involved Miss 4. Children are just so pure, they have no judgments, are full of self confidence and no cement! They do not have a lifetime of ‘cement,’ they are just their pure and innocent selves.

On Wednesday we went to our local park, it was a lovely day and Miss 4 was playing with her bestie from Kinder. It was a warm day and Miss 4 just ran and played for the entire time we were there, so you could imagine after a couple of hours, she was starting to get a little emotional due to being tired. While running around like a crazy person she tripped and hurt her leg (not seriously, just a little scratch), because she was tired her emotions were running high and she stood there and cried. I was not far away from her, but to get to her I had to maneuver around the play equipment. Anyway, while I was making my way to her, another young girl of similar age approached my Miss 4, to comfort her and make sure she was ok. It was the most beautiful thing you could ever witness. One young girl comforting another who needed a little love and care at that moment in time. True Kindness shared between strangers when they most needed it.

After I comforted my Miss 4 and she ran off to continue to play, I walked back to where I was sitting, and I passed the other girls mum and I shared with her how kind her daughter was to mine. The other little girls mum smiled, and I could see in her eyes, pride! Just how proud she was of her little girl showing kindness to a stranger.

It is these random acts of kindness that seem so small and insignificant, but they mean the world. That one random act made 4 people feel loved! My daughter felt comforted, I was touched by the love and kindness the other little girl showed my Miss 4, the mum of the other little girl was filled with pride and that beautiful little girl who showed kindness, helped someone else and I hope from the bottom of my heart that other little girl stays true to her self and continues to show her love and kindness to all, because if she does I truly believe she will go far in her life.

Let us all change someone’s day, week, year or life with one small act of kindness.

Week 15 – Best day of my Life

“I greet the new sun with confidence that this be the best day of my life!”

What a wonderful mantra to be reading and applying to your life every day. The above quote is from Scroll III from Og’s Greatest Salesman in the World and it the one sentence I have chosen to bring forward with me to read every day, 3 times a day when I sit to read Scroll IV this month.

To me it makes me smile and think ‘YES I am going to have the best day of my life’ and what better way to start the day than telling yourself you are going to have the best day of your life. Then at the other end of the scale every night when I read it, if my day has not been as great as maybe I had thought it reminds me to reflect and I remember the moments of the day that were good or the things I am most grateful for. So, whether I have had the best day of my life or a bad day, I end the end remembering and reflecting on the ‘best’ parts of the day and this makes me forget the bad moments and I smile, my heart feels full, I am grateful and I look forward to the next day.

Could you end your day on a more positive note? I do not think so. So go and have the best day of your life!

Week 14 – New Year, New Me??

Week 14 rings in a NEW year, and after a year like 2020 I have seen SO many people posting about their ‘New Year, New Me’ goals & resolutions, and this year was the first year that I was NOT one of them. Yes 2020 was a ‘different’ year and yes it had its ups and massive downs, but it did have some great ups. We all learnt that life does go on even when we are not at work, school, activities etc. and that spending time with family is important.

So, why was I not right there on Jan 1, 2021 with my ‘New Year, New Me’ goals? Because of the MKE experience. One thing the MKE experience has shown me is that I do not need a New year to “find” a New Me. Why do people wait until the new year to set or start their goals? It is not like they are magically going to change their habits overnight and start the new year off with good habits that will bring them to their goal or their NEW self. Creating new, good habits is a process, and I think the MKE experience shows that, with the fact it is a 6 MONTH program. It is not a quick fix, it’s lifelong cement and bad habits that’s we are chipping away at to replace with good habits that WILL lead us to our divine purpose in life.

So, for me 2021 is a New Year and yes, I guess because of the MKE experience I will become a New Me, but it will be a New Me that will last me entire life. Not just for 1, 2 or 3 weeks so other New Year, New Me resolutions I have had in the past.

So, cheers to 2021 and the ME experience.

Week 12 – I am a Lion!

This week for me, I have found a lot to fall into place and go ‘ah-ha’ that is why we are doing this and that. I think it is also that this weeks Hannel reading is something I have honestly believed, something I have known and worked on for my entire adult life.

Hannel reads ‘Things are created in the mental or spiritual world before they appear in the outward act or event.’ For me I read this as, your thoughts are the drive behind what comes your way in life. If you are thinking positive thoughts, positive things will come upon you, and on the flip side if you have negative thoughts you will attract negative things or situations to you.

This is where you must literally ‘take out the trash’ of your thoughts. If you are going for a promotion at work and you are thinking you are not good enough for it, then you are totally right. You will NOT get that job, because what you think about, you bring about!

Hannel also writes ‘it is necessary to center your mental force upon a specific thought and hold it there.’ Going through the MKE program we have been creating our DMP and our FOCUS is all about our DMP. Why? Because when we center our mental focus upon a specific thought and hold it there, we will manifest it to become true. Wouldn’t you want what your heart truly desires? If you are swapping and changing your focus/thought/dreams or goals every other day how will you manifest it to bring what you truly desire? If you have scattered focus you will accomplish nothing!

Also, this week I have noticed in myself I am reacting differently to situations. There was a situation that arose, that in the past I may have acted differently, but the MKE program I am noticing is helping me to change the way I think and react in a positive and healthy way.

When this situation unfolded, I felt myself referring to Scroll III of ‘The Greatest Sales in the World.’ The sentence that I found myself embracing was ‘I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep. I hear not those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious.’ I refuse to be taken down by the “sheep” because I am a Lion and this sheep wanted me to join them, when all they were doing was weeping and complaining and I realized I am ABOVE that now and I am a LION!

I no longer have time for the “sheep” in my life and I feel FANTASTIC about it! I am a LION, and I am a warrior! I am in control of my thoughts and I am changing my OLD blueprint!

Week 11 – I’ve dropped the ball

Pic from Google Images

This week I have realized that I have dropped the ball a little. Particularly with my ‘Service Cards’ I have not done them for a couple of weeks. Woopsy.

Now I could TOTALLY give you 500 reasons as to why I have dropped the ball and why it is ok for me to have done that, like its right before Christmas, we have been busier than normal, I have had extra things on but really all that matters is that I own it!

YES, I have missed doing my service card for the past couple of weeks BUT I will start again! I will just start them again and this time with MORE enthusiasm and passion, why? Because I know when I was doing it, it was serving me well and I now know I want MORE. So, if I want more than I am getting I need to do something DIFFERENT to get it because I am not getting it from doing what I have been doing.

My old self, my old blueprint probably would have given you the 500 reasons as to why I have dropped the ball and why it is ok for “me” to have dropped the ball and my old blueprint probably would have been ok with that and moved on. Moved on without owning it and without realizing it WAS serving me well and that its ok to have dropped the ball, but it is getting back into and starting again that is

the NEW me!

So, my next step is get back on the horse and get back to my service cards because I want to create GOOD Habits!

Week 10 – YES you CAN eat an Elephant!!

This week we turned the page and started Scroll III in ‘The Greatest Salesman in the World’ by Og Mandino. This scroll to me when I read it is all about

Pic from Google Images

persisting and you will succeed! And the PERFECT quote that comes to my mind when I read it is ‘You can eat an Elephant, ONE bite at a time.’ What does this mean? To me, it symbolizes that YOU CAN achieve whatever you desire to achieve if you just take small steps to bring you closer to it. One bite at a time!

While reading this scroll there are 2 sentences that stand out to me and I would love to share them with you and why they resonate with me. First, ‘In truth, one step at a time is not too difficult’ Anything is possible when we take ONE step at a time. I absolutely LOVE this, and I find myself doing this in my day-to-day life. I can sometimes feel overwhelmed when I have ‘too many things to do’ but for me what it is, is that I do not know how much I must do. SO, I write lists!!! I am a HUGE list writer and if you ever come into my home you will see ALL my lists I have around the house. I ALWAYS have multiple lists on the go because if I feel like one of them is getting too much or I do not like what is on it I will just start another list.

For me when I write a list I feel in control, why? Because my tasks in hand are written down, so I do not need to keep remembering them and I can clearly see what needs to be done and once I complete tasks, I have the satisfaction of crossing things off! And when you look at the bigger picture, I am taking one step at a time and it is NOT difficult at all. I CAN conquer anything when I have my list in hand.

The second sentence is ‘I will build my castle one brick a time for I know that small attempts, repeated, will complete any undertaking.’ To me this shows us again that we CAN achieve anything we set our heart and mind too. If we do regular tasks to get to the end goal. For example, if you want to grow or build a business you cannot just register your business name and expect GREAT things to happen, you need to “BUILD” it! With lots of small daily tasks to make it grow.

It is like growing vegetables, if you plant the seed, water it once and do not

look after it, you cannot expect it to grow and thrive. Why? Because that little seedling will need constant care. It will need water, sun and protection from the elements and the little critters that enjoy eating the veggies. So, if we cannot expect a little seedling to grow without some love and care how can we expect a business a grow without the same love and care? How do we do this? By building with small attempts, repeatedly EVERY DAY! These small attempts do not need to be HUGE it may be as simple as growing your presence on social media by consistently posting or it may be by connecting with one person a day. These tasks do not seem BIG, but in the long run it is the small daily tasks that GROW a business.

Week 9 – What you think about you bring about

Part 9.11 in Haanel quotes ‘every cell in the body must manifest the truth as you see it. If you see sickness; they will manifest sickness; if you see perfection, they must manifest perfection. The affirmation, “I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy”, will bring about harmonious conditions. The reason for this is because the affirmation is in strict accordance with the Truth, and when truth appears every form of error or discord must necessarily disappear.’

When I read this section, I was like ‘WOW’ I get it. This is something I have believed for some time, what you think about you bring about. If you think negative thoughts or think that bad things are going to happen to you, then you are CORRECT! Because what you think about, you bring about.

Whereas if you think positive, happy, and wonderful thoughts then you will bring about positive, happy, and wonderful things. Someone who lives their life in a constant negative state of mind may find that they are forever struggling, and bad things are happening to them. These people will play the blame game, it will never be their fault that these “bad” things are happening to them, but always someone or something else to blame for their misfortune, but in actual fact if they look within they will realize what they have been thinking is reflecting in their life.

I know this because I have been in that state of mind, it was not for a long period of my life but it was there and it was not until I took ownership of my thoughts, actions and self that I realized these “bad” things were no one else’s fault, they were because of my negative thinking. I was thinking bad things therefore bad things were coming my way.

Have you ever looked at that person who is just SO happy in life, wonderful things are happening for them, they just ooze positive vibes and you think to yourself ‘what do they have that I don’t? They have POSTIVE thoughts! They are putting positive thoughts and energy out into the world which is coming back to them 10-fold. They are living with LOVE in their heart and sharing that LOVE to EVERYONE they encounter.

I believe we can all Love a little more, be a little more positive and SMILE!!! A smile goes a VERY Long way, and you know what? It is FREE!! It is free to give and it is free to receive. But the thing with a Smile is it is contagious! When someone smiles at you, you will naturally smile back at you, and it is impossible to be grumpy when you are SMILING! Smiling at people we know is just as important as smiling at people we do not know. You are not walking in their shoes, you have no idea what is happening in their life at that point, but you can give them a smile and make them feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and that is a true gift to give.

So, remember to SMILE! In every situation, good or bad. Because it is the bad times when maybe the other person needs it. You just have no idea what is going on in their life.  😊

Week 8 – Emmet Fox’s 7 Laws of the Mind

We were introduced to Emmet Fox’s 7 Laws of the Mind in Week 5 and this is something that I have connected with, it may be because it is more on the ‘logical’ side of things and I am definitely more logical, rather that emotional.

I want to share with you today the 7 Laws and my views and experiences with them.

  1. Law of Forgiveness – I forgive everyone. Forgiveness brings clarity, when we do NOT forgive, we are in the state of anger and resentment against another.
    Pic from Google Images

To me, being in this state of anger is like the “Buddha quote: “Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.”” There is one period of time in my life when I know I WAS NOT living the Law of Forgiveness, it was not my finest hour but its these moments that shape us to be a better person and I know if I had not gone through that phase I would not be the person I am today. I was drinking the ‘poison’ wishing the other person to die. Now I did NOT actually want them dead I just wanted what they had and was angry at them for running their path and I was wishing I were on their path when I was not. My close friend and mentor shared with me the Buddha quote and I knew I was the one drinking the poison and it did help to know this and yes it took time to ‘snap out of it’ but I can now say that that period of my life is over and it definitely helped shape me to be the person I am today, the person I am proud to be.

  2. Law of Dual Thought – I can attach any feeling I desire to any thought, my choice. Having the choice to attach ANY feeling to any thought is HUGE! While sitting here writing this Blog I have just had a ‘light bulb’ moment, and that is in the future when I think about writing my blog I am going to attach the feelings of satisfaction, pride and accomplishment to it. Writing my blog each week can be a struggle BUT now when I think of writing my Blog I will have the feelings of Pride, Accomplishment and Satisfaction towards it which will help me get in the flow and make it not feel so much like a chore!
  3. Law of Substitution – I can instantly replace a negative thought with a positive one. This law I think is my fondest. This is something we can all do to live a more positive and happier life. When you find yourself having a negative thought, close your eyes, take a moment, and start thinking about something positive or something you enjoy or something that brings happiness.
  4. Law of Relaxation – My relaxed, calm state of mind helps me access infinite
    Pic from Google Images

intelligence. Ok time to be honest here, I have a 4-year-old, so I do NOT think I have experienced this Law YET! The thought of having a relaxed & calm state of mind sounds like total BLISS and one day I will get there, but until then, in this house Silence is NOT golden!! Silence means something is happening that should not be happening!

  5. Law of Practice – I practice daily, including these laws & perform amazingly because of practice. With practice of the correct things, we improve. Practice does make us perfect. We just need to make sure we are practicing the correct thing to improve. Through the MKE course, the Law of Practice is a focus. EVERY day we read and sit to practice the process of re-training our subconscious mind. It is the daily small steps of reading and re-reading that help us to improve.
  6. Law of Subconscious – My subconscious works 24/7 to manifest what I plant along with my DMP! As soon as the subconscious accepts the idea it becomes a demand, and it works constantly. Before the MKE course I did not understand this Law, but now it makes total sense. When our subconscious mind accepts an idea it becomes a demand, we read and re-read our DMP so that our subconscious can accept it and then demand it of us! It is like holding us accountable to what we truly desire.
  7. Law if Growth – Whatever I think about grows and what I forget atrophies
    Pic from Google Images

without exception. What you think about, you bring about. What are you thinking about??? If you do not like what you are thinking about then you need to change your thought because if you keep thinking about it, it will grow!

I hope you have found my views of Emmet’s 7 Laws of the Mind helpful.

Week 7 – No body is perfect???

Why do we listen to this ONE sentence and think it is TRUE?? Who made the decision that it is the truth?  Aren’t we all perfect in our own ways? Isn’t that what makes us so special? To be unique and individuals?

I believe we are brought up in a society where we NEED to be perfect but everyone’s opinion on what perfect is, is SO completely different. Everyone has different expectations and needs but we are some how required to be “perfect.”

What is perfect?? If you asked 100 people you would get 100 completely different answers. You have as much chance as being “perfect” as you do catching a Unicorn!

Why can we not just accept that EVERYONE IS PERFECT! Everyone is perfect in their own unique way and we should all embrace that and support each other, rather than knocking others down to make us feel better about ourselves. And when did knocking someone else down be ok if it made US feel better about ourselves?

Perfect is defined as ‘make (something) completely free from faults or defects; make as good as possible.’ To make Something (us) completely free from faults or defects, isn’t it our faults and defects that makes us UNIQUE? Are they not the things that make us a stronger person, or a more positive person, they make us who we are today?

How does one be completely free from faults and defects? Even as a small child we are led to believe that we are not perfect and have our faults. Were you not told off as a child for doing something “wrong” isn’t that creating a ‘fault’ in our blueprint?

What would happen if we ALL strived to be the best we could be? If we all focused on doing what we know how to do, to the best of our ability? Wouldn’t that create a “perfect” world? Everyone in harmony with who they are and knowing that they are absolutely doing the best they can possibly do.

As a mum to a small child I am now aware of this and I will be doing everything I can to make sure she knows she IS PERFECT in her our unique and special way. Because people who grow up in a loving, caring, and supportive environment will grow into loving, caring and supportive adults and that is what I want in life. A world filled with loving, caring and support people.

What sort of person do YOU want to be? There is still time to BE that person.
